Bolorampore is a small village, inhabited by small and marginal farmers. The area being mono-cropped and rainfed, the going is quite difficult here. Those who are lucky, and, could manage to get jobs in the cities are a bit better placed. This is near the Sundarbands region, located in South 24 parganas district in West Bengal. One has to take a local train towards the Diamond Harbour and alight at a small station called Sangrampur, about forty kilometers from Kolkata town. From here on, untill recently, one has to walk for about an hour to reach this village. We reached here on three-wheeler small auto-rickshaw that are now available at the the railway station, if pre-booked.
There is a small Baptist congregation here. They had built a mud-walled church here more than six decades ago. The present generation of youth and some elders put in their hard effort to fulfill their deam to have a new church, a bigger one to accomodate the congegraton which had grown manifold over the years.
Their prayers were answered and on 2nd April, 2016 they held a thanks-giving worship in this new church. Some of us were present to witness this wonderful event. Once the prayer-service was over, all were given some sweets and later in the day all gathered together for a fellowship meal.
